Bushes

A bush or bushing is a cylindrical tube or sleeve used to interface between two parts, either fixed or removable. It helps to constrain, guide, or reduce friction and falls under the broader category of bearings, also known as sleeve or plain bearings. 

Bushings work by allowing sliding motion between surfaces, typically using soft metals or plastics and an oil film for lubrication. They come in various forms, such as solid sleeves, split bushings with a cut along their length, and clenched bushings that feature a clench across the cut.

Bushings reduce friction and dampen energy in rotating, oscillating, and linear movements, making them ideal for applications like vehicle suspension systems where they separate and cushion metal parts. Some bushings are maintenance-free and don’t require additional lubrication.
